HYPERLOOP ONE APP
A case study

RESEARCH & DISCOVERY
Brain Dump & Mind Mapping
This is the phase where I get all my existing misconceptions and early ideas out on the table so that my mind is empty. This is when I can truly begin researching because my ego and biases are not an influence anymore. From the mindmap I can see where there are gaps in my information and where there may be opportunities to innovate and capitalize on pre-existing advantages/ disadvantages.

CONCEPT IDEATION
User Flow & Strategy
I begin with a rough skeleton usually in outline form to list must have functions to solve the solution. From there I weigh the pros and cons of each function because ultimately, we don’t want a solution that is so saturated with functions that it becomes a nuisance to the user.

From the outline, a basic user flow of the app itself can be prototyped which also serves as a mental journey map where I can begin to experience the solution. This will give me a good idea as to where I should add value, and where to take away any unnecessary steps.

MOCK-UPS & PROTOTYPING
User Test & Iterate & Repeat
I always start with rough mockups and sketches to get some ideas out on the table. If I had teammates, this would be my favorite part of the design phase because this is the time where all ideas are valuable; Where bridging my initial ideas with my colleagues ideas sparks the magic that leads to great design.

From the rough sketches, I’ll go into more medium fidelity prototypes for user testing and begin prioritizing the information architecture.
